Influence: Heather Day
There’s something about the physics and materials of things in art that expand meanings and fruition. When I was in art school I was, perhaps, too young and inexperienced to perceive it. But I could grasp a feeling, almost like a fading memory of a dream when you just woke up. Jackson Pollock, Basquiat, Kandinsky… they all had this reverberating thing that got inside me through my eyes and shake my core as a ghost energy thing… I can’t explain it. Heather Day has it. This movement, this gesture, almost like an abstract dance. Saying things in the whole color-line-textures-movement soup that her paintings are. It’s beautiful. Inspires me. I hope it inspires you too.
